Corfe Castle has been a Saxon stronghold, a Norman fortress, a royal palace and a family home in its ten centuries of dominating the Purbeck landscape.

Swanage

A beautiful seaside town on the Jurassic Coast. Take the steam train, walk along the Victorian pier and look out over Swanage Bay from Durlston Castle. Plenty of places to eat, seaside cafes, local bars and dozens of restaurants.

Swanage Steam Railway

The 12 mile Swanage Railway return trip takes you through the beautiful Purbeck countryside and includes stunning views of the iconic remains of William the Conqueror's Corfe Castle.

Places to Eat

Cozy interior of a rustic dining room with stone fireplace and Christmas decorations.

Square & Compass

Arguably the most recognised pub in the area with amazing views out to sea. Plenty of craft ales and ciders but if you want a bite you'll have to make do with a pasty pie or slice of Dorset apple cake. This pub is about 1.5 hrs cycle from Purbeck Park.

Scott Arms Kingston

If the Square & Compass is too busy or you want a full menu, then try the Scott Arms just down the road and a bit closer to Corfe Castle.

Stone building with 'Free House' sign, open doors, and a chalkboard menu outside.

The Fox Inn

What a gem this pub is, run by an enthusiastic young team in the centre of Corfe, but you need a keen eye as it is easy to walk by and not recognise the pub frontage.

The Greyhound Inn

A popular Corfe Castle pub that offers a British/European menu and a grassy beer garden.

Bankes Arms Corfe Castle

This is where we stopped to rest when father and son of Cyclexperience researched these amazing cycle routes many years ago and laid claim to Purbeck park for the future of the cycle hub! Bankes Armes is a very popular pub with accommodation in the centre of Corfe castle.
